Electrical Lecturer

Bournemouth and Poole College now have an exciting opening for the position of a Lecturer in Electrical to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £40,262 - £41,364 per annum.

About the role: 

As the Lecturer in Electrical you will deliver high quality and effective teaching, learning and assessment to Electrical students at Bournemouth and Poole College. The post holder will also act as a personal tutor to students.

The North Road campus consists of Plumbing, Gas and Electrical. The facilities include separate, well-equipped workshops for each area to give the students a realistic approach to the workplace. The electrical and plumbing workshops have dedicated bays of various finishes and fixed and mobile work/examination rigs. There are also designated classrooms with suitable visual aids to facilitate teaching and learning.

 

Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Electrical will include: 

  • Create an outstanding student experience which leads to progression or employment
  • Contribute to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum
  • Demonstrate the principles of inclusive learning including:

-         individual learning styles.

-         support for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.

-         extension resources/activities for students of higher ability.

-         general resources, including the use of Information Learning Technology.

 

  • Organise and participate in relevant visits, enrichment visits, and liaise with external organisations to enhance the learner experience.
  • Prepare and mark student work, monitor progress towards individual targets, keep records using college systems and provide timely reports/reviews to students, parents, employers, and College managers, as appropriate.
  • Take appropriate responsibility to ensure the Health and Safety of self and others
  • Develop and maintain effective external links related to the delivery of the subject/course
  • Internal verification
  • Act as a Personal Tutor to students, full time students/apprentices   
  • Representing the College at internal and external events and meetings including student recruitment and admissions events

 

As our Lecturer in Electrical, you’ll ideally have: 

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
  • Level 3 Electro Technical qualification
  • NVQ Level 3 Electro Technical or a current JIB Gold card
  • 5 years minimum industry experience in Electrical Installation
  • Knowledge of current industrial practices or teaching in field(s) of expertise
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications
  • Attendance at college events ie open evenings including outside of normal working hours
