Student Support Officer - Finance

Job Description

The Role

As aFinance Student Support Officer, you will ensure that all applications for Student Finance are assessed in line with published policy and guidance and ensure that student have access to Student Finance Information.  The successful candidate will also be the lead contact for the college in relation to student childcare support and liaise with all childcare providers in relation to invoicing and support. In this role you will also have the responsibility for coordinating with WESS Finance in order to ensure that bursary payments are made in a timely and accurate way, ensuring that full audit compliance is met. The role has a strong emphasis on excellent communication and organised administration and therefore the potential candidate would need to offer these skills in order to be successful in the role.

Key skills, responsibilities and attitudes

  • Educated at Level 3 or be willing to work towards a Level 3 qualification
  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including in Maths and English
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Knowledge of basic financial, budgetary and accounting procedures
  • Computer and IT Literate
  • Excellent organisational, administration and communication Skills
  • Self-motivated and confident with a positive attitude
  • Ability to work as a member of the team and also work on own initiative
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Safeguarding Children and vulnerable adults’ legislation
  • Knowledge of equality issues and an ability to implement equal opportunities initiatives
