Director of Learning - Foundation Studies

The Role:

As Director of Learning for Foundation Studies, you will be part of our Senior Leadership Team.  You will be supported by three Learning Managers for Foundation, English and Maths.  You will lead and develop a high-performing team to ensure the highest standards in teaching, learning, and assessment. You will be responsible for shaping curriculum strategies, improving student outcomes, and driving innovative approaches to English, Maths, and wider foundation programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for Foundation Studies, including English and Maths, to enhance student achievement and progression
  • Develop and implement an innovative, inclusive, and high-quality curriculum that meets the needs of a diverse student body.
  • Lead and inspire a team of educators, ensuring outstanding teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement in student outcomes, retention, and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective provision and progression pathways.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance, using data-driven insights to enhance student experience and success.

About You:

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking educational leader who:

  • Has a strong track record in leading and improving provision in Foundation Studies, and / or English, and Maths.
  • Holds a relevant teaching qualification and a higher level qualification in a related subject.
  • Has experience of curriculum design, quality improvement, and innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Is committed to raising aspirations and achieving the best outcomes for learners.
  • Has a sound understanding of FE sector regulations, funding, and inspection frameworks.
