The Role: 

As our Lecturer in Hairdressing, you will provide a flexible and responsive approach to students in the training or work place environments and undertake skills development and competence assessment as required. To work as an integral part of the team where the overall aim will be the development and operation of students learning and assessment. 

Our Hair department is based at our Bournemouth campus.  We have a range of courses from L1 to L3 courses, with a strong apprenticeship cohort which link to local employers. 

 

Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Hairdressing: 

  • Lead, manage and support their curriculum team.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of a range of educational programs including identifying learning objectives; determining, designing and producing study material; planning course/study program delivery.
  • Contribute to high quality learning experiences using a variety of teaching and learning methods.
  • Ensure that teaching is based on current best available practice and is consistent with a high standard of practice.
  • Provide academic and pastoral support to students in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Create an outstanding student experience which leads to progression or employment.
  • Manage student issues within agreed protocols.
  • Undertake such other reasonable duties as the line manager may require from time to time and review this Job Description annually with the line manager.
  • Participate in the College’s appraisal process and to undertake any training that may be appropriate

 

As our Lecturer in Hairdressing, you’ll ideally have: 

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
  • Teaching Qualifications (or evidence of working towards).
  • Upto Level 3 National Professional (vocational) qualifications in Hairdressing
  • Assessor & IQA Awards.
  • Experience of facilitating learning for students in a Further Education setting.
  • Knowledge of current evidence-based practice in field(s) of expertise of hairdressing services.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Willingness to take part in Open Evenings/weekends; employer & school liaison and careers events.
