Personal Development Tutor

We have an exciting opportunity for a Personal Development Tutor to join the team on a full-time, term-time-only basis. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,308 per annum (£23,456 pro rata).

About the role:

As the Personal Development Tutor, you will deliver the cross college Personal Development Tutorial Programme (BPC Grow) and to provide ongoing support to students to promote their achievement across all aspects of the study programme.

You will also support students pastorally and promote developing their confidence and resilience.

 Furthermore, you will ensure the highest quality learning experience for all students, aligned to a responsive personal development programme that meets and anticipates current and future needs of our learning community.

 

Responsibilities as our Personal Development Tutor will include: 

  • Developing a relationship with their cohort of students, providing a trusted friendly point of contact, to promote a healthy transition from school to college whilst ensuring students develop personally and socially.
  • Working with students to promote pastoral and academic success, self-esteem, self-confidence and achievement.
  • Delivering the weekly personal development tutorial (BPC Grow) aspect of the Study Programme Timetable.
  • Monitoring student progress to ensure progress is being made through close liaison with departmental teaching staff including those teaching English and Maths
  • Close liaison with departmental teaching staff and collaborating regularly with Learning Managers to overcome any areas of concern
  • Working closely with teaching team to monitor and ensure excellent attendance of students within their cohort.  
  • Maintaining and updating student records systems to facilitate communication and the reporting of data 
  • Supporting students through their preparation for progression in conjunction with members of the Careers Advice and Guidance Team.
  • Supporting and delivering progression and employability activities as required.
  • Working alongside the Learning Managers, Student Inclusion and Support and Cross College Personal Development Manager to ensure all student needs are being fulfilled, and signposting towards relevant support as required

 

As our Personal Development Tutor, you’ll ideally have:

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
  • Proven track record of success in supporting young people.
  • Ability to work with young people, parents/carers and colleagues, as appropriate
  • Knowledge of post-16 education and training
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications
  • Attendance at college events ie open evenings including outside of normal working hours
