The Role: 

As a Specialist Practitioner & Exam Access Arrangements Assessor, you will identify the needs of learners across the College on all programmes, including Higher Education and Apprenticeships. You will provide advice and support to colleagues in implementing reasonable adjustments in order to increase the independence of learners.

 

Responsibilities as our Specialist Practitioner & Exam Access Arrangements Assessor will include: 

  • Responsibility for completing Exam Access Arrangement (EAA) Assessments for students across College working with small groups and individual students as part of a team of assessors
  • Collating evidence and completion of high quality EAA paperwork e.g. Form 8/Form 9s and file notes for processing
  • Ensuring student records systems are kept up to date with information including SEND support profiles and strategies and tracking assessment progress
  • Supporting lecturers in assessing the suitability of individual students for particular courses or qualifications
  • Working with a caseload of students who may require an EHCP (Education, Health & Care Plan) to request assessments, working with external professionals and colleagues to collate evidence and complete initial reports
  • Assisting the Exam Arrangements Advisors in ensuring quality standards/regulations are met, in liaison with the Exams Office and the examination boards. EAA Assessor post holders need to formally update their knowledge of access arrangements annually
  • Contributing to the development of a wide range of materials and resources to support SEND provision and practice including the use of assistive technology
  • Providing support and advice to students who may need signposting to further services for example DSA (Disabled Students Allowance) or GP services

 

As our Specialist Practitioner & Exam Access Arrangements Assessor, you’ll ideally have: 

  • Level 2 (or equivalent) English and Maths
  • Teaching Qualification, Specialist Practitioner Qualification or equivalent SEND qualification
  • L7 qualification in teaching and assessing for Exam Access Arrangements e.g. PAPAA
  • Demonstrate evidence of practice in working with students who have learning difficulties and disabilities
  • Current experience of EAA assessment
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications and using assistive technology in exams
  • Knowledge of learning difficulties and disabilities and an in depth understanding of the effects on learning
  • Knowledge of assessment principles and practices
  • Knowledge of JCQ regulations
